Policies

In order for the resort to operate smoothly and to protect the safety of our guests, we have some written rules or guidelines for you to follow. We hope you find them helpful. We want you to enjoy your stay. Any concerns should be brought to our attention immediately. Thank You!

Check-In Policy
  • All resort guests and any visitors must be registered. This included infants and small children.
  • Please no early arrivals! Check in is after 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. We need adequate time to get your cabin cleaned and ready for you to enjoy.
  • Check out is before 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Please inform us of your anticipated departure time. Our cleaning help likes to start as early as possible. It is our goal to finish before it gets hot in the afternoon.
  • For short stays and midweek changes there is less cleaning help available. If you wish to check in before 4:00 p.m. please call to make arrangement. We will try to accommodate you.
  • Cabin rent is due and payable at the time you check in.
  • We do not accept credit cards (cash, personal check, money order)!
Camping (Extra Guests) Policy
  • Frequently, we are asked to allow children to sleep on the floor. Some folks want us to allow tents to be set up beside their cabin or to allow family members to sleep in campers in the parking lot. We are licensed as a resort not a campground. We do not have public restrooms or the shower facilities necessary for such a license. We cannot permit this activity.
  • All resort guests must be registered. This includes infants and small children. Rates are quoted at standard or basic occupancy. The extra person charge is $25 per day or $125 per week for each additional guest, not to exceed the maximum number indicated. This is in compliance with health and safety guidelines.
Noise Policy
  • Quiet time is 10:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.
  • Dirt bikes and motorized scooters should be left at home. The resort property and the surrounding township roads do not provide a safe place to ride.
  • You may ride ATV’s on approved trails only. Parking is a problem! All ATV’s must remain on a trailer or transport vehicle at the resort. We will be happy to provide trail information for you.
  • Motorcycles must be parked in the parking lot, not beside your cabin.
  • All fireworks are prohibited. We encourage you to attend one of the local displays (Park Rapids / Walker).
  • Please no loud music, public intoxication, abusive language, or lewd behavior.
Parking Policy
  • Parking on the lower level is limited to one (1) vehicle per cabin. Please park cars diagonally along the fence. For the first time this season, we will be issuing parking passes. When you check in, you will be given a pass for each vehicle that must be displayed on the dash and clearly visible through the windshield.
  • Please do not park or block access to the sidewalk area. This space is reserved for delivery, maintenance, and emergency vehicles. It may be used as a loading and unloading zone. We have carts to transport items from your car to your cabin. Older individuals and those with handicapped stickers will be accommodated first. Please let us know before arrival if you need handicapped parking.
  • Boat or utility trailers must be parked in the overflow parking up above or across the road. Do not park along the township road. If there are problems, please let us know.
  • Visitors during the day who are not registered guests must report to the office to check in. They may not park on the lower level. When they check in we will tell them where to park.
Waterfront Policy
  • Children must be supervised at all times. Swim at your own risk. There is no life guard on duty. Horseplay on the raft or in the swimming area cannot be tolerated. Please, no diving from any of the docks. Many injuries result from diving or jumping into shallow water. Use good judgment diving off the raft.
  • Fishing from the main dock is prohibited (swimming area). You may fish from the other docks. Do not allow children to climb on the rocks along the shoreline. They are slippery and shift easily under your feet.
  • Do not throw rocks or debris into the lake.
  • Life jackets must be worn when using the paddleboat, canoe, or kayaks. Life jackets are not required when using the fun bugs within the swimming area. Outside the swimming area life jackets are required. Resort life jackets are for use in operating the various watercraft and water toys. They are not to be used to assist swimmers. We do have a few smaller (children’s) life jackets that may be used for that purpose.
  • Please use equipment in the manner intended. Do not sit on the pontoons of the paddleboat or use it as a diving platform. There are 4 seats, two in the front and two in the back.
  • The paddleboat (fun bugs, canoe, kayaks) is/are not to be used as transportation to and from the raft. Please keep all equipment away from the raft.
  • Due to insurance costs, we do not offer waterskiing as an activity. Ski boats and equipment can be rented from a local outfitter.
  • See FAQ page for rental information. We ask that boats take off and drop skiers in open water not from a dock or the raft. We can assist with this activity.
Use of Grill – Campfire Policy
  • Do not dump ashes from the charcoal grill out on the ground. They must be allowed to cool and placed in a metal can or bucket.
  • Some people believe using a spray shortening such as PAM before using the grill makes the grate easier to clean. Before the grate cools completely wipe it down with newspaper and clean it up a bit so it is ready to use the next time.
  • Do not use the pizza pans on the charcoal grill. It renders them useless for inside use.
  • If you bring a gas grill or turkey fryer, please use them away from the cabin.
  • Campfires are permitted in the designated area only. Ask if you want us to start a fire for you.
  • We have long handled roasting forks, pie irons, and popcorn poppers for use around the campfire. We also have cast iron frying pans for cooking over the open fire.
  • You must make sure the fire is out. Do not use the fire extinguisher in your cabin to put out a campfire. You will be expected to pay for recharging the fire extinguisher. Letting it burn down and smothering it is the simplest method.
Miscellaneous-The Do Nots
  • Please do not wash your hair or bathe in the lake.
  • Do not leave a stringer of fish tied to the dock, unless you like feeding the turtles, who will really enjoy them.
  • Do not toss unused bait into the lake.
  • Do not feed the geese unless you plan to hang around and clean up after them.
  • Do not pick wildflowers or pull bark from trees.
Visitors Policy
  • Each cabin may entertain up to 2 visitors at a time during the day free of charge.
  • All visitors must report to the office and sign in. Note office hours are posted.
  • Please notify the office and get approval before entertaining a group (more than 2). A charge of $10 per day per person will be added to your bill.
  • Also, visitors will be charged a fee for the use of resort equipment.
  • Overnight guests add to the occupancy of your cabin. This may result in additional charges.
Pet Policy
  • Absolutely no pets are allowed. Our cabins are located in close proximity to each other and the grounds are shared by all guests. Our regular customers do not want to have to watch where they step or listen to a barking dog. Some have allergies that are triggered by pet hair.
  • Your family pets need loving care and a place to exercise. We are happy to recommend a local kennel. See the F.A.Q. section for contact information.
  • If we discover a pet in a cabin, you will be asked to leave and charged for the clean-up.
Deposit Policy
  • Please fill out and mail in a registration card for each cabin booked. A deposit of $350 per week per cabin is required. We will hold a phone or e-mail reservation 7-10 days.
  • Guests must pay for the entire stay booked. Deposits are not refundable. If you must cancel; all payments are credited toward a future stay or may be used by family or friends.
  • A written confirmation will be issued. It spells out the balance due at check in time.
  • Fishing boats and motors must be reserved and paid in full before your arrival.
  • A larger deposit may be required when booking multiple cabins for the week.
  • Weekly bookings normally run Saturday to Saturday. Short stays consist of a minimum of 3 days or nights.
Firearms Policy
  • During hunting season, we understand our guests may be carrying firearms. At all other times, we prefer that you leave guns at home. If for some reason, you are licensed to carry a firearm and choose to do so, please let us know.
Cabins – Housekeeping Policy
  • We reserve the right to charge a cleaning (damage) deposit. This is a common practice when large groups are involved or guests are staying with us for the first time.
  • All of our cabins are set up for light housekeeping. You are expected to wash the dishes, take out the garbage, and maintain the cabin in a livable manner during your stay. If you wish to tidy up during the week, we will supply a few cleaning supplies and a vacuum cleaner.
  • Please report any maintenance concerns to us immediately (leaky faucet, stool runs continually, light burned out, hole in the screen).
  • No Smoking! Please do not smoke in the cabins and in areas used by other guests. Be considerate.
  • Do not throw cigarette butts, pop tops, or sunflower seeds on the ground or leave them in the bottom of the boat.
  • There are clothes lines located behind the cabins. Do not leave towels and other personal items on the deck or patio.
  • Potlucks are fun! We want you to enjoy your meals with family and friends. However, please help with one of the most time consuming tasks the cleaning help faces, sorting and returning kitchen equipment to where it belongs.
  • Large groups have a tendency to prepare food for an entire crew in one cabin. Note you cannot plug in several roaster ovens, a couple crock pots, and a large commercial coffee pot and leave them unattended all day. Please check with us. We may have suggestions.
  • We save margarine tubs, cool whip bowls, and sour cream containers. We put them in the cabins so you can take food home. These containers are not safe to use to heat food in the microwave. Recently, we have added some glass (pyrex) containers just for this purpose.
  • Please do not put small fans on a window ledge or in a window. They damage the screens. We have ceiling fans in many of the units.
Wave Runners (Jet Ski) or Personal Watercraft Policy
  • Our bay is small.  Our neighbors and other guests object to the noise. Personal watercraft disturb the loons and the other wildlife in our bay and their constant use erodes the shoreline.
  • They are more suited to a larger body of water. If you bring a jet ski, you will be asked to keep it on the trailer and transport it to the public access to use it.  We do not want them docked along our shoreline.
Recycling (Garbage) Policy
  • Yes, we recycle. The blue container is for recyclables (aluminum, steel, tin, glass, plastic). Please rinse all food containers.
  • Cardboard, newspapers, and magazines can be brought to the office during the week. Or large pieces of cardboard can be placed alongside the cabin behind the garbage containers for us to pick up. Usually there is space under the sink to store newspaper. You may need them to start a fire or pack around a cooler. We save magazines for a short time. Someone else may want to read them when you are finished.
  • We do have a compost pile! Underneath the sink you will find an ice cream pail for food scraps. Please follow the instructions on the pail. If it is sitting out in front of your cabin in the morning it will be emptied and returned to you.
  • The green container is for garbage. We are working to cut down on the amount of garbage that needs to be hauled away. Our last pick up is late Friday evening.  We make a dump run early Saturday morning. Please clean out the refrigerator before Saturday morning.
  • If extra garbage bags or liners for the wastebaskets are needed, just ask. Soiled diapers need to be individually wrapped or bagged before disposing of them. There should be plenty of used store bags in your cabin for this purpose.
  • Frying fish is something everyone seems to do. Please do not pour grease or cooking oil down the drain or attempt to put it in the garbage. There should be a coffee can or similar metal container stored under the sink to hold grease. We collect the oil all season, add bird seed and make into suet balls in the fall to feed the birds.
  • Do not clean fish in your cabin or on the picnic table. We have a very nice indoor facility for cleaning fish. All the remains should be dumped in one of the large buckets under the sink. We will dispose of them. The water that drains from the fish cleaning facility is considered gray water and can be used for other purposes. Please do not put fish remains in any garbage container.
  • At the end of the week, if you have canned goods or other unopened packaged goods you do not want to transport home, we have a box in the office for items to be donated to the food shelf.
